Another game is worthy of a mention on Indie Retro News which looks equally enjoyable and graphically superior for the system it's being played on, is BCW.Design's upcoming ZX Spectrum NEXT game of 'Captain Square Jaw'. A game in which the creator describes as "a fast paced, action, puzzle platformer for the Spectrum Next which pushes the plucky 8 bit machine to it limits. To coincide with this news, we've got some more info about the game as well as some footage from the demo which can be played right now.
And here's the info! " The full game contains 50 stages of fun and excitement spread out over more than 250 rooms. This demo version contains a small sample of the full game (4 stages), but should give you a good idea of how the main game plays. There’s a hidden diamond in each stage and various secret rooms to find. The game / demo can also be played on the PC / MAC using the amazing cSpect emulator (here). Full game will be available soon from: https://bit.ly/3YDKj61 "
Thanks for the post. It's really nice to see one of your games on a site you visit regularly.
ReplyDeleteThe game is kind of a modern remake of Rick Dangerous with puzzle elements and lots of secrets to find.
Works in cSpect as well for MA / PC users
very nice work.
ReplyDeleteexcellent work !
ReplyDeleteWoW, this is a Great quality ZX Next title, incredible result achieved on a 8 bit machine, also if to be honest this is a Super 8 bit ! |^_^)
ReplyDeleteThe Next really feels like a PC Engine. Might not have the sprite capabilities but has a faster CPU to make up for that. It's capable of a lot.
ReplyDeleteNext .. 128 x HW sprites, 4-8 bit colours, mirroring, int zoom, colour offset etc. etc. in HW
DeletePlays nicely as well as looking great... They've put a playable demo up on itch which is a nice idea.
