The last news story from me unless something major comes out, as the previously announced Amiga shooter of 'Hyper Wings' by Geldo79, has hit the big 2.2 with a final version! An Asteroids and Star Control mash up which was developed in ASM. To coincide with this news, while we did feature the game before, you can at least check out the full up to date details, as well as a gameplay video posted below.
Here's the latest from the developer. "Hyper Wings is a fast space shooter for Amiga (1MB RAM). It is developed completely in assembly language and was optimized for Amiga 500 (OCS), but also runs on all other Amigas. The game was influenced by Spacewar (B. Seiler) and other space shooter games like Asteroids. The intention was to get a fast space shooter game on Amiga with high framerate (50fps) and lots of action which is just fun to play".
=> The game is included in the AmigaLive game database. So you can also fight battles against other users on AmigaLive.com!

These remakes and titles are great. Truly wish and I don't have the skills, however, imagine remakes of movie titles from the late 80's...that would be totally boss! Specially Amiga movie licenses, quite a few of them could use an extra pixel or two.
ReplyDeleteI haven't played this game, but a more Star Control-like duel would have been more interesting, with perhaps a gravity center (a planet) in middle of playing area, pulling in ships and making gravity slingshot moves possible.
