For the last 10 years or more, I have tried to feature as many different systems as possible, ranging from the Amstrad CPC, all the way to the Sega Mega Drive. Well for todays news announcement we are looking towards the ORIC for our retro gaming fix. As Defence Force has contacted us about his new game that's soon to be released this December via Itch and Steam, called ' Encounter HD'. An upgraded and enhanced version of the 1983 text adventure game originally released by Severn Software. To coincide with this news, we've got some more info and footage about the game below.
And here's the latest. "If you were playing games in the 80ies you are probably familiar with names like The Hobbit, Zork, Colossal Cave Adventures, The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy or The Guild of Thieves text adventure games. Encounter belongs to this family of games, but adapted to a more modern audience who find pure text adventures a big too difficult to get immersed into. The game is attempting to be as modern and advanced as possible given the technical limits of the platform in term of performance, resolution, number of colors, lack of modern input peripherals, and limitations in storage space. The game will be for the 1984 Oric Atmos personal computer running on a 1mhz 6502 processor with 64 kilobytes of ram, loaded from a 360 kilobytes 3" floppy disk".
This is why I love this site. I would never have come across this on my own, and it looks great. One to dive into once I finish their excellent Blake’s 7 game!
