Another Scorpion Engine game has appeared, as looking through the Commodore Amiga Facebook group, I've come across a new work in progress arcade shooter called 'Galactic Plague' by Hoyster Games. A game in which the developer says" Just for the fun of it, I’ve been creating my own Amiga game in Scorpion Engine, and this based on a game I wanted to make in SEUCK way back in 1992!" While he does state he's having fun with it however, provided below is some early screenshots of the game.
Here's the latest from the description. "Introducing K9 and the Galactic Plague, a game that has lived inside my head since I was 15 (in the year 19-something-something). I originally started building this in SEUCK all those years ago, although it was never completed. In 2023 I was made redundant and found myself picking up SEUCK for a quick go - a go that ended up lasting three hours on that day and months after that".
"Nine months of learning later and hear I am, still hugely enjoying the process and pulling the game together. In the previous video ( now removed ), you can see a work in progress version of the game, taking you through the first four levels. More will follow soon, so if you like what you see keep checking back for further updates!"
UPDATE : The developer has now released a 2 level demo, as in his words "I’ve put together a 2-level demo of my Amiga game if anyone wants to give it a try. Bit of background - my only previous experience developing a game has been making the first level of this game in SEUCK. It just goes to show what an amazing tool the Scorpion Engine is when someone as inexperienced as me can get something functional (and hopefully fun) out of it! The full 7-level game is technically done, but needs work and polish so I’ll be on with that until at least spring. Also huge thanks to Matt McGuire for providing the music for this. It’s absolutely something I could never have done.
