In the early 1980's an Arcade game released by Williams Electronics was to become one of the most important titles of the golden age of video arcade games selling over 55,000 units. That game was Defender; a side scrolling shooter, featuring 2D graphics as you defend astronauts against wave after wave of alien enemies. So what if you have that classic 1980's game but mixed up with a bit of Halloween fun? Probably this game 'Sybil'. A brand new Commodore Amiga game by Colin Vella in which he states "Halloween Defender is inspired from the classic game Defender, but with a Halloween theme ".
Here's the latest from the developer. "Finally I finished working on Sybil! It was meant to be done by Halloween but I didn't have enough free time to meet the deadline. So here I am, a month and a half later! Sybil: Halloween Defender is inspired from the classic game Defender, but with a Halloween theme. The game is developed in AMOS Basic Pro for the Commodore Amiga line of computers. Within the game, you control Sybil, a kindly witch living at the edge of the forest, mistrusted by the residents of the nearby village. Yet every year on Halloween, when the barrier between the earthly and the spirit worlds grows the thinnest, and foul creatures from the underworld spill through, Sybil flies out on her enchanted broom and spell book to keep them at bay".
- The game is [open source](https://bitbucket.org/raster-wizards/sybil) and free to play. The source code has intentionally been made public, as a learning resource for [AMOS Basic Pro](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMOS_(programming_language)) users to help them code new games for the [Commodore Amiga](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amiga) line of retro computers.
