When I was young I used to love playing the very latest in 16bit/32bit racers such as Outrun, Lotus or even XJ220 on the Amiga. It was a time that gave me the feeling of intense speed and near misses without driving a real car and ending up in the local clink. Thankfully if you too like games like that, or even ones with a more science fiction element to them, then make sure to keep an eye on Hyper Runner; An upcoming sci-fi racer for the Commodore Amiga by Raster Wizards that looks even better in this latest footage!
Hyper Runner is not just an inspiration to the incredible game of F-ZERO on the SNES. But it will have around 15 levels with each having a specific look, the choice of different vehicles to race with, and while the game is some way yet from completition, the game is being coded by Colin Vella, graphics by Tenshu and music by Mike Richmond. So yes this is one game that many Amiga fans across the globe will be looking forward to playing when and IF it gets a release.
It definitely looks cool, but I hope there are more futuristic looking stages, too.
ReplyDeleteMy 2 cents: with shadows under vehicles, and 1 audio channel saved for sound effects (what about switching to chip tune 2-3 channels?) including motor sound would be absolutely amazing! Love the perfect use of copperlist for the street and the sky.
ReplyDeleteThis title screams extreme ups & downs in the road!
ReplyDeleteLooks great, but would like to see a reimagined road texture so it feels like the future I guess. The country vibe is kind a cool, but would a metallic kind of road suit that scene a little better?
