Throughout the years most of the games I feature on Indie Retro News, are either arcade platformers, shoot 'em ups, or my least favorite genre, puzzlers. Well here's something that is likely to spice it up a bit in the Amiga scene, is Zener's Commodore Amiga itch io upload of Tracker Hero. A musical game that doesn't just use MOD song files, but if you've ever played Guitar Hero or Dance Mat, then this latest Amiga update will suit you perfectly! Not sure what I mean? Then check out this gameplay video below and it will all make sense :).
Here's the latest from the developer. "Tracker Hero is a musical game for the Amiga that uses MOD song files. It can be played with keyboard, Joystick, Guitar or Dance Mat (Using Paul Willingham's or PSX64 PS2 to Amiga adapter). Other PSX to Amiga CD32 adapters may also work. It has been developed on an Amiga 1200 and WinUAE using Amiblitz2, Personal Paint, Protracker and some other tools".

Looks fun! Actually.. Count Me In is a better name for it 😅
ReplyDeleteIs it me, or doesn't any of the button presses sync up to instruments/rhythm/features in the music?
ReplyDeleteIt seems it doesn't sync at all. What is a pity.
DeleteTracker Hero isn’t new, it was released years ago. This is just an Itch upload.
ReplyDeleteahhh damn it! Thanks for the notice, have changed the write up
DeleteDon't worry about it. Fun doesn't have an expiration date.
DeleteAwesome!
ReplyDeleteInterestingly, long time ago there was an also awesome PC game called "Tap a Jam", that also worked on MOD files in the same way :D
This used to be a great site to visit where the aim was to publish retro news to the people. Nowadays it seems like all it is about is to get people to click on the monetized Saberman channel videos ??? Maybe links to other non-monetized channels, where people are into the retro because of the spirit and not the money, could be possible ?? or just no video links at all - it is your blog we come to visit and read...
ReplyDeletePretty sure IRN & SM have worked as a team for quite a few years. Seems like a good combo to me.
DeleteSaberman as is xenomorph(Amstrad) is an asset to the community, they have been doing homebrew plays for years. Although I have no decisions over how they do their videos, it's their choice to monetize. In fact even well known and highly respected Amiga Bill uses their videos and if you click on Amiga Bill's Twitch page some times you'll get an advert. If you don't want to watch the video, there's always a screenshot ;) - Besides I have no adverts on this page only a recommendation or two in the side bar.
DeleteWhat's the problem with monetized videos? Are you completely adverse the idea of creators getting something back for all their effort in providing the community, including people like you, FREE content?

ReplyDeletewell, i'm glad i don't develop puzzle games...
ReplyDeleteThe adverts on the Saberman Retro News channel are only there to present as many new paid games as possible to the retro fan community. Unfortunately, but a good portion of the games are paid for and the ads are there just to have something to buy them with. All the money from the ads goes towards new games.
ReplyDeleteSaberman
Saberman, you don't owe anyone an explanation. Just keeping being awesome dude!
DeleteYeah! A big thanx to saberman! Greeetings gunaTM
ReplyDeleteBoth Saberman and IndieRetroNews do incredible work for the community and asking for a bit of support is nothing compared to many of the sites out there flooded with ads. If you don't like the videos and don't like the site don't click play or view. Some people just hate for the smallest of things
