Shoot em ups have never gone out of fashion, there's something to be said about blasting waves of enemies on screen, while collecting wicked power ups and listening to that thumping soundtrack. Thankfully one such team likes to keep the shoot em up goodness flowing, as thanks to a heads up in our Shoot Em Ups : RetroGaming Facebook group. We've been told that as of the 20th of this month, ININ will be releasing X-Out : Resurfaced through the Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox and Steam store. A 90's Amiga blaster faithfully rebuilt for modern platforms!
Here's the latest from the Steam page. "In 1990, the year of X-Out’s initial release on Amiga, it stood out as a breath of fresh seaside air in the stale shoot 'em-up space. Partly, because it didn’t take part in “space” as so many games of its genre did (and still do) but instead went for a dive through underwater worlds. But what really pushed it further than its other side-scrolling competitors was its shop system allowing players to mix and match from a wide variety of ships, weapons, and other accessory parts to build their fleet making every playthrough (attempt) feel different and unique".
"Now 2025 X-Out the highly challenging underwater shoot ‘em up from game developer legends Rainbow Arts is finally returning. ININ and Ziggurat have collaborated to bring you a faithful remake completely rebuilt from the ground up and greatly improved."

Finally! I was waiting for this remake and i hope it will be challenging like the original on 64 and Amiga! By the way X-Out was one of the first games i bought for Amiga 500,alongside with Xenon 2,Blood Money and Battle Squadron, and one of the first games which amazed for his superior graphics and sound. Maybe the 64 version was technically better than Amiga version and waaay superior than the ST counterpart, but i like better the Amy conversion and this pc version seem to replicate in an enhanced way this porting.Fingers crossed!
