Head Over Heels was first released in 1987 for several 8-bit home computers such as the Amstrad, C64 and ZX Spectrum, but this faithful remake and deluxe edition, which was only recently released on Steam and has just got a new update, is based on the Spectrum version with all new gorgeous graphics and new features. Although originally designed by Jon Ritman, Bernie Drummond and developed by Ocean Software, this remake of Head Over Heels designed by Rusty Pixels, Ogre Games Ltd is well worth checking out indeed.

Old Windows version but 99% identical to this one is still free, downloadable at archive.org, uploaded by (same) author. Not sure for modern Windozrs but it works like a charm at Wine (Linux).
ReplyDeleteYou sure it's 99% identical as this one is claiming to be further enhanced with a new world, tons of new levels and new music :)
DeleteThat’s a completely different version, this is a Windows port of the Spectrum Next version released last year.
DeleteAgain ?!?
ReplyDeleteBut there already was a remake available on steam (not anymore), made by different people and, apparently, without owning the IP.
On a Steam thread (=> steamcommunity.com/app/1134050/discussions/0/1639793203768156755/ ) a Piko representative said they have the IP but this one isn't made/published by Piko ...
Such a shady mess ...
