Some more Amiga news for you all, as we've just been given the heads up, that JOTD who was behind great conversions such as Moon Patrol, Donkey Kong, Super Bagman, Galaxian500, Pooyan, Super Xevious, and the upcoming Bad Dudes vs DragonNinja, has now turned his attention to the 1982 game of Burger Time. A new Amiga conversion which was originally released back in the day for the Intellivision, Apple II, Atari 2600, TI-99/4A, Commodore 64, ColecoVision and many others. To coincide with this news, you can see the latest footage of Burger Time being shown below.
Here's what the wikipedia says about the game. "The object of the game is to build a number of hamburgers while avoiding enemy foods. The player controls chef Peter Pepper who walks across oversized ingredients in a maze of platforms and ladders, causing them to fall and stack on buns below, eventually creating complete burgers. The chef is pursued by anthropomorphic hot dogs, fried eggs, and pickles. A limited supply of pepper can be thrown at aggressors immediately in front of Peter, briefly stunning them".
UPDATE : If you enjoyed the demo version that was made available some time ago, will be pleased to know that as of today, JOTD has released the final version of BurgerTime. As in his words, "published final version (I hope it is). I couldn't fix the controls the way people required it, but apart from that it's 100%. Fixed flickering, added hardware sprites, at least something was completed. Now on to fixing BadDudes & working on a new secret project (actually 3 secret projects)"

All these conversions from JOTD have been great of course.
ReplyDeleteThe recent C64 conversion was excellent.
Man, more and more amazing arcade conversions. I'm happy to be an Amiga owner now.
ReplyDeleteBurgertime was a fun and popular game but people forgot about the difficulty.
ReplyDeleteI had the Ti994a version which was a really good port in its day. I have the NES port. Always like going back and playing the arcade. Look for the fan remake C64 version also which is very accurate but a lack of color.
Very nice, looks quite close to the original. I haven't played it yet, but does the conversion perhaps have speed settings? Faster gameplay would be nice.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks good but I was having major slowdown issues. The game should not be running near this slow but it could be my settings. Anyone else having issues?
DeleteYes, there are some speed issues that are being investigated. Also agreed: the game is super difficult. Level 1 is pretty easy, but from level 2 it's really hard not to use all peppers. The enemies seem to almost always take a different direction when encountering a choice, even if the player is in sight, but apart from that they seem to home to the player (yes, I converted the game, but didn't look too close on the A.I. since it worked straight away)
DeleteI really enjoyed this but it's a bit slower than I remember... maybe just me. But so many awesome arcade conversions are coming out lately. Nice work!
