When it comes to games developed using the SEUCK engine, they are usually Shoot 'em ups that vary in quality, with some feeling a bit boring and rather samey. Thankfully 'Thunder Bird' by Eleanor Burns is an exception. As not only is it a Western themed action six shooter platformer, but you'll have fun blasting different enemies with gun in hand such as snakes and nasty miners. To coincide with this news, we've got the full details and gameplay footage below.
And here's the latest from the TND competition page. "Yeehaw. It is time to take a trip down to the Wild West with a Western themed action six shooter platformer by Eleanor Burns with some nice western themed music by Richard/TND. The game was created using Martin Piper's adaptation of the Sideways Scrolling SEUCK. You play the role of an outlaw named Zintkala from the Lakota Tribe, who is on a quest for vengeance to find and defeat an evil Demon Serpent that killed her tribe leader. Before she can get there for the ultimate showdown, she must go on a long journey by foot and then by train where she will encounter broken ledges, deadly snakes, buffalo, voodoo skulls and nasty miners who made her life a real misery. Luckily she is armed with a Colt with plenty of bullets and is ready to take on the goddarn varmits. Yeehaw!".
No mention of Sunset Riders.. seriously?
ReplyDelete? :)
DeleteAs the game author, I can totally confirm this is a shameless rip-off of Konami's "Sunset Riders" which I saw mentioned in a Commodore Power featurette years ago, but was never actually converted to C64.
DeleteAlso, probably don't shoot the snakes. This is a pro-animal game...
I just tried it, and though it's only a SEUCK, it's one of the best ones in my humble opinion. It comes with a PDF booklet, detailing the story that adds to the atmosphere. I think it's a good quality little shooter like the other Burns games.
ReplyDeleteThe game is not bad but very stupid to play.
ReplyDeleteThe seuck creation most than best Alf Yngve products. B/W provoke old memory gold era !!
ReplyDeleteLooks great! I really enjoy Eleanor's games anyway, so this is a must play for me.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much :)
DeleteAs a Sunset Riders fan I think this looks great!
ReplyDeleteThank you. :) Did my best to at least get some of the spirit of a coin-op we're sadly never likely to see a full C64 version of.
DeleteNot bad, but no best than Alf Yngve Master of Seuck !
