There's nothing more satisfying than playing top down scrolling shoot 'em ups, games I remember fondly stand out such as the fantastic classic Tyrian 2000, or the many list of Arcade titles running through home emulation or a well designed cabinet. Well thanks to a heads up from the developer, we've been told at some point soon, Roar Tjørhom will be releasing a demo of his little shoot 'em up game for the Commodore Amiga called "Wings of Fear". An upcoming game you can see in this latest footage below.
And here's the full details from the Commodore Amiga Facebook group. "Hello guys! Today I am quite happy and abit proud. I am almost finished with a demo of my little shoot em up game called "Wings of Fear" it started out as an OCS game, but to run it smoothly without slowdown you need an Amiga 1200 with some fast ram. But it will technically work as long as it has 1MB of chip and 512KB of fast.
This would not be possible without the Scorpion Engine (Earok! What an amazing job you have done! And also great help from Zooperdan (Dan Thoresen) and Mixels ( Michael Dawes) THANK YOU!
So hopefully you want to try my demo when I publish it...soon hopefully!"
And that's all there is to say about the game, but as soon as the demo launches this article will be updated :).
I like it, nice colours and good design, a world war 1 plane. May I suggest you to increase the number of bullets and to make them tiny dots because the already had machine guns.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! :D
Deletelooking good , yes I agree with more Machinegun bullets from our plane.
Deletekeep up the good work.
Wow amzing work.
ReplyDeleteWell done, i got some Blue Max, Wings and 1942 vibes here.
Keep up the work Roar Tjørhom !
Bigger models do change it up a bit. The backgrounds are really cool and look authentic too.
DeleteThat is very kind of you! Thank you.
DeleteHaven't had the chance to try it out yet, but it looks really good. Roar has worked his socks off and this is his first attempt at making a Game, so hats off to him.
ReplyDeleteNo worries at all Jamie!
DeleteMuch love for mentioning Tyrian 2000, best vertical shmup ever, period.
ReplyDeleteHell yeh!
DeleteTruly great news – I love what I see!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
Delete1942 style shoot-em-up but in WW1 setting. Who would have thought! Nice job.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! :-D
Delete30 years after Banshee, this doesn’t really impress
ReplyDeleteBanshee was coded by an experienced team with a huge financial backing. Bit harsh to compare really ;)
DeleteI do not understand to point with such comments. Of course It will never be at the same level as Banshee! Give me break!
DeleteJust curious, so if one can not compete with the best of the best. We should not make games in that genre?
And why do you hide behind an anonymous comment? You should at least stand by you comment and show your self.
Don't let one comment put you off dude, even some of the best games in the world has the odd negative feedback . I for one am looking forward to playing your game 😁
DeleteThank you! I have to admit, that comment put me abit down.. :-( Anyway I will try and not be so sensitive.. thank you for all your kind words, it really means a lot! Have great sunday!
DeleteYou have many positive comments from readers, let that be your enthusiasm ☺️☺️
DeleteWell said. You are completely right. Thank you. 🙏🙏🙏
DeleteWait... so unless I throw heaping praises, I shouldn't comment? And why is it "Harsh to compare"? Isn't that exactly what anyone does when a game in a similar genre comes out? And really... comparing it to another game means that I am saying no other games should ever come out? Give me a break. This may be a great game, but looking at it, graphically, it is tough to get excited, when we have seen something that truly was amazing. It's not like I am comparing it to a modern, ultra HD, 3D game on the Playstation 5, I am comparing it to another game on the same platform.
DeleteBanshee are impressive superior graphics and sound fx, nice parallax elements.
ReplyDeleteTrauma 0 is the BEST IMMORTAL SHOOTER AMIGA EVER, published in last year of millenia 1999 !!
Hello everyone!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all I want to thank all of you who has been so nice and motivating with your comments. That was really not expected but really means alot.
I will try and release the playable demo next weekend, but there are some issues I would love to fix before I put it out there.
The full game will have a free digital version with option to support. I hope to finish the game by the end of the year and make big box version (thats going to cost a bit) sometime in 2026.
Also to be clear!
I will not dream to think that I can compete with Banshee or any fantastic top shooters on our beloved Amiga, i find such statements quite silly and naive. But if you find my game entertaining and fun I will be very, very happy.
To be continued.
Looks awesome, Roar. Can't wait
