Super Pac-Man - A dedicated port of Namco’s Super Pac-Man for the MSX system

The MSX home computer library continues to grow with the release of a high-quality, dedicated port of Namco’s arcade classic, Super Pac-Man. Developed by Mastropiero, this new version offers fans a definitive way to experience the 1982 sequel on the MSX. While the project uses the Casio PV-2000 title Mr. Packn as its technical base, it is far more than a simple conversion however, as Mastropiero has significantly overhauled the software to leverage the MSX’s capabilities, introducing enhanced graphics and a brand-new main title screen. These additions transform the experience, providing a level of polish that surpasses its predecessor on the PV-2000.

Micro Karting - A work in progress nod to Super Mario Kart for the Amiga [UPDATE]

If you've never heard of Super Mario Kart, then I guess you were living in a cave, as this game series which first appeared in 1992 on the SNES, was one of the most addictive arcade style racing games ever to appear on a TV screen. So to see someone try to create a Mario Kart like experience on the Amiga certainly caught my interest! Welcome to Micro Karting, an ever improving proof-of-concept to see if a 3D-ish kart racing game can be done on Amiga AGA without cheating.

Flat-Lane - Another fabulous racer released for the C64!

The Commodore 64 scene continues to prove that there is still plenty of life in this legendary machine. Retro homebrew developer youki06 has just released Flat Lane, a new racing title that serves as both a nostalgic tribute and a technical "experiment-turned-reality." For youki06, the project is deeply personal. His history with the C64 dates back to 1983, when he received the computer as an 11-year-old. Like many aspiring programmers of that era, he dreamed of creating a pseudo-3D racer in the vein of the arcade classic Pole Position. While he felt he lacked the technical prowess as a child, Flat Lane—his second complete game for the platform—finally brings that vision to fruition.

Double Dragon - A near Arcade experience brings back the nostalgia via JOTD for the Amiga AGA! (WIP)

This week just gets better and better as another game has hit our news feeds and it's none other than Double Dragon for the Amiga, but as an AGA edition. First released way back in the 80's by Taito Corporation, Double Dragon in the Arcades was a fantastic beat 'em up game that featured high grade fighting two player fun on many different systems such as the Amstrad, Amiga and C64. But now thanks to JOTD, he is working on bringing the Amiga version more in line with the Arcade. In fact one person even said "I honestly thought that the original was the worst home conversion that could possibly exist."

Xeno Genesis - A possibly unheard of Amiga shoot'em up action game has been recovered

The Commodore Amiga community may have just witnessed a piece of digital history resurface: a seemingly unpreserved shoot 'em up titled Xeno Genesis by Demantoid Productions. Published by Danish PD/Shareware distributor Cat Computer Club, but screenshots shows the original publisher was meant to be Microvalue. While helping his brother clear out his loft, a user discovered a box of old Amiga disks. Among the common titles was this mystery game, which—despite the harsh storage conditions of the last 20+ years—successfully booted on the first try after a quick cleaning to remove dust and a stray spider leg.

Super combat 3 - An Amiga multiplayer game was lost and now recovered thanks to emulation.

A long-lost piece of Commodore Amiga history has officially resurfaced. Super Combat 3, an intense two-player action title developed in 1995 by the coder known as Hambo3, has been recovered from digital oblivion and made available to the public. According to the creator this game was written entirely in assembly language on original Amiga hardware during the mid-90s. Thankfully after all this time this now lost game has been recovered having been successfully salvaged through modern emulation techniques.

The objective is classic arcade fare: consume every dot in the maze while dodging a relentless squad of hunting ghosts.

Gem'X Lite - A fast-paced puzzle title for the Commodore Plus/4 by Pzsolt and Hege8

A late entry hits the retro scene just in time for the competition deadline. Retro gaming fans have a new reason to dust off their Commodore Plus/4 systems. Just before the latest competition cutoff, developer pzsolt has officially launched Gem'X Lite, a fast-paced puzzle title now available on Plus/4 World. Gem'X Lite challenges players to master its pattern-matching mechanics. The goal is simple but demanding: you must recreate a target configuration by toggling coloured diamonds on a grid. The catch? Every move counts. Flipping a tile doesn't just change that specific diamond; it also affects every neighbouring tile in the grid. Strategy and foresight are essential to align the pieces before the timer expires.

Stunt Car Racer running at a super smooth 50/60fps on the Amiga? [BETA UPDATE]

In the late 80's, Geoff Crammond released the incredible game of ' Stunt Car Racer '. It involved you the player, racing around a 3D track in a first person view using a vehicle which had boost capabilities. It was also one of the greatest racing games ever released and what made it so great was the fact that all of the tracks were like rollercoasters, with such dangerous driving and incredible heights involved it would've killed anyone if it was real life. But this month as a bit of a shock, a coder by the name of Vesuri looks to be working on an Amiga version of Stunt Car Racer that's running at a smooth 50/60fps. Something Amiga owners have been wanting for a very long time.

An engine that was also used in the more recent homebrew C64 hit of SNK vs CAPCOM. To coincide with this news, Saberman has provided a new video of the demo, but lets just hope that further demos are not magazine exclusives and can be enjoyed by all.

Axis - Escape the Aliens in this new C64 port from AnyStone Games

The Commodore 64’s library has grown even bigger today with the official release of Axis, a high-stakes "escape" title developed by AnyStone Games. Born from the legacy of Zsolt Bertók’s (Bery) original Videoton TV Computer game of the same name, this modern C64 rendition was crafted using the powerful TRSE (Turbo Rascal Syntax Error) development tool. In a departure from the typical "run-and-gun" action found on the platform, Axis strips the player of all weaponry. There is no shooting or fighting here—our protagonist must rely entirely on speed, timing, and nerves of steel. The objective is simple but daunting: navigate through 10 perilous sectors to find the exit door that can only be opened with the right key card.

Astro Warrior - A classic Sega Master System game arrives on the ZX Spectrum NEXT

The ZX Spectrum Next library continues to grow, this time breathing new life into a Sega classic. Developer dave18 has successfully ported the iconic Sega Master System (SMS) shooter called Astro Warrior over to the Next, a project born out of a nostalgic desire to test the architectural boundaries between the two machines. The developer chose Astro Warrior because it was the first game they ever owned for the SMS. While the port was created "just for fun," the result is a polished conversion that highlights the impressive technical overlap between the Sega and the modern(like) Sinclair hardware.

Alien Breed as a demake demo for the ZX Spectrum 128k looks seriously cool

The legendary 1991 Amiga shooter Alien Breed has unofficially landed on the ZX Spectrum 128k in a new, high-performance demake demo. Developed as a "loose adaptation" rather than a carbon copy, this project aims to fill a long-standing gap in the Spectrum’s library: the lack of fast, fluid, top-down shooters with full-screen scrolling. While the original Alien Breed was one of the games that put Team17 on the map, this demake brings that same intense sci-fi atmosphere to the humble Speccy. The developer noted that the goal was to capture the "fast and fluid" feel of the 16-bit original, leveraging the advanced capabilities of the ZX Spectrum 128k.

Well as a complete surprise to myself, it looks as if DJ Mike with the help of some EAB members are remaking the Amiga version of The Addams Family with those missing backgrounds.
