Even more Amiga news for you today as RMJ and JoeJoe, has released a 1:1 conversion of Konami’s 1982 classic Time Pilot to the Amiga 500 and 1200. Rather than a standard emulation or loose recreation, this involved translating the original arcade machine's Z80 processor instructions entirely into 68000 assembly code, instruction by instruction. Furthermore, this conversion replicates the intense aerial combat of the multidirectional shooter, where players pilot a jet through an indefinitely scrolling open airspace. Each distinct stage shifts the battlefield to a completely different historical time period, staying completely faithful to the legendary arcade game originally distributed by Centuri and Atari.
According to the wiki page "this game originally dominated arcades before seeing early home ports on systems like the Atari 2600, MSX, and ColecoVision in 1983. While Konami would later pivot the series with a top-down arcade sequel in 1984, Time Pilot '84, that follow-up completely abandoned the signature time-travel theme in favour of a purely futuristic backdrop." By focusing strictly on the charm of the 1982 original, RMJ and JoeJoe have delivered a rather decent retro preservation project that gives both standard OCS Amiga 500 users and AGA Amiga 1200 owners a way to experience one of gaming's foundational arcade shooters.
- Although the website description does look as if it was done by AI, there's no mention if the game was developed with the help of AI either on the page or as a disclaimer. So make of that as you will.

Looks great, to be honest. I had this game on my C64 back in the day (and I thought it was amazing!). Good to see that the OCS Amiga version is identical to the arcade version.
